After going in here so many times now it is almost beginning to feel like a second home! I have got to know the place quite well, the features and the layout which I think helps when going into a place with a certain set of images in mind. As soon as I saw the strong sunlight breaking through the clouds I knew this main floor space would have some great shadows and tone to capture.
I think more than ever I was trying to capture the individual experience of being in a space like this, the things that catch my eye and how I interpret it. To capture the atmosphere or to tune into one detail is to represent the feeling, the textures and experience in a more complete sense. The images I feel represent that stillness and uncanny nature of a building which has fallen out of the system of order our lives seem to be conditioned to follow.
The black and white images also have this intensity to them whilst also representing the fragility of society, the tone evoking feelings of memory, time and history adding to the feeling of narrative I wanted to create. With the distraction of colour gone the image captures much more of the atmosphere and texture and brings together ideas of misplace and a dropping out of normality.
