This one is a little different to my usual practice but as I am trying to get together my portfolio and develop my professional practice I was grateful of the opportunity to have a go at this.

I happened to overhear a conversation at work about the need to re-design the firms letterhead and although I am currently only working as a part time archiving clerk whilst studying the partners are aware of my interests and skills and so I offered my assistance.
The original letterhead which was designed by the QS media team had been causing some issues since the day it was adopted and recent mishaps had brought this back to the attention of the partners who felt something had to be done. Apparently the rather blocky and dark header at the top of the page had resulted in our contact information being lost to the fax machine which I find something of an oversight for such a bit company with Saatchi backed designers to make.
Original Letterhead:
Design wise I don't mind the original but clearly it has to be functional, and from general feedback people felt the dark banner was too heavy and overpowering too. Being part of a conglomerate I was instructed I had to keep with the colour scheme and logo but otherwise I could do as I wished, however I was presented with some "attempts" other members of the "Letterhead committee" had produced before so I had an idea of the direction they wanted.
As I said although this is not usually my style I enjoyed the challenge and was pleased with my ability to turn my hand to something different and look forward to developing this design and also continuing to find new and challenging opportunities and pushing my professional practice ready for employment as a graphic designer.
I worked through a few different design features and weights of line to see which one both worked the best and which the firm preferred.
