Scrapbooking The City...Psychogeography Experiment!

I decided to take a walk around my city with no particular destination in mind and collect interesting objects and photographs to create a new kind of representation of the city.

I have been looking at psychogeography for a while now and I am interested in how we can experience and see the city in new ways. Taking the everyday place and seeing those details which make a place fascinating and exciting, entering that hyper aware state which usually occurs when we travel but pointing that towards the everyday and allowing us to see the narratives and opportunities that it can bring.

In preparation for a publication I want to produce I wanted to look at bringing those overlooked details and fragments together in order to see how this changes their perception and begins to create a narrative of it's own. How these seemingly mundane things can become strange and fascinating and when placed together can start to tell when interpreted.

I wanted to show the unexpected in the everyday, the stories we walk past and the things in life we miss. Highlighting through objects and places we can all relate to that there is another way to look at the world we live in.
